Social Entrepreneurship is an approach by Individuals, Groups, Start-Up Companies or Entrepreneurs in which they develop, fund and implement solutions for Social, Cultural and Environmental Issues.

It can be applied to a wide range of organizations which can vary in size, aims and beliefs. They are not just Welfare Agencies or Charities but are actually Private Businesses which focuses more on Betterment of Society rather than just profit They focus on working and enhancing the Social Capital within the Community or Society by encouraging Participation on various events and utilizing to achieve the Social Change

Functions of Social Entrepreneurship

  • To create and maintain a stable level of employment.
  • Create Jobs and provide support to socially vulnerable groups
  • It promotes the development of Entrepreneurial Skills
  • It creates Social Innovation and Change in various areas including Education, Health, Environment and Business Development.
  • Reduces the Poverty Risk.

Types of Social Entrepreneurship:-

We clearly know that entrepreneurship is not specific, it can be of different types with many different aspects. Everyone desires to be their boss and the entrepreneurship platform specifically empowers them to do So.


Community Project

It is a small-scale effort to address an issue within a specific community. Social, Environmental and Economic Issues are the Main Focus but the interpretations can be quite broad. For example: Building a Community Garden for the Conservation of Local or Indigenous Flora and Fauna.

Non-Govermental Organization (NGO) or Non Profit Organization

The structure of a non-profit organizations is based on legal jurisdiction but on the whole, non-profit organizations not to generate revenue for shareholders and stakeholders but to create an enterprise focused on a specific cause which can have a broad spectrum of social impact, women and child’s health and Cancer Research For Example: MEDLIFE FOUNDATION is the non-profit organization which has been focusing on primarily on Sustainable Healthcare, Women and Child Development and various other causes.


Co-Operative (Co-op)

Many People who come together for a specific need, often form co-operative groups or co-ops. These are member-owned and operated enterprises usually focusing on basic needs like housing or groceries, they can operate for profit or non-profit basis.

Social Enterprise

Businesses that operate according to a specific social or charitable mission are known as social enterprising. These businesses are often backed by Non-Profit organization and may try to further that Organization’s Goal and Opportunity. These enterprises also provide job skills training opportunity for less fortunate people or marginalized people which can help as a means of income. For Example: MEDFEM, MEDPHARMA are the Social Enterprises which has been under the MEDLIFE FOUNDATION to provide services and work opportunities to Less Fortunate People with the intention of Sustainable Healthcare.


Our Initiative

MEDLIFE FOUNDATION is working in both urban and rural areas so that people can become financially independent and live a dignified life. We encourage people to be entrepreneurs, beyond the established norms of making money, freedom from hectic jobs, personal development and welfare. Female entrepreneurship has become one of the major driving forces of the economic development in many nations. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) on women entrepreneurs stated that about 73 million people are active women entrepreneurs. India ranks THIRD in the number of new firms created as per the World Bank data. Entrepreneurship is a useful financial tool in difficult economic times and female entrepreneurs are often an untapped and undervalued resource with the potential to boost economic success. From a Human Resource Management perspective, the rise in female entrepreneurship is vital for the economy. It enables the women to balance work and family commitments at home while fulfilling their business objectives. Married women with greater family responsibilities are more likely to be self-employed.

Statistics Related To Entrepreneurship:

There has been a dramatic growth in new firms which has shown that the most firms are created in Service Sector. The Entrepreneurial Sector has shown the Highest Activities in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Uttar Pradesh. It has improved the lives of more than 30 million people and has given the way of advancing in their life. It has been 5% till now but has been on its way to expand more, due to the Female Entrepreneurship.


Female Entrepreneurship In India:

The Ministry Of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) highlights that women constitute around 14% of the total entrepreneurs in India. The Women and Entrepreneurship in India 2019 study was conducted online and between December ’18 and April’19 and received a lot of information about female entrepreneurship across the country. Most of them started their business between 25 and 35. 51.2% of women fall under this criteria. Most popular cities are Mumbai, Bangalore, NCR, Hyderabad, Goa and Pune for Woman Entrepreneurs

Our Role

MEDLIFE FOUNDATION wants less fortunate people and women to start their own units to earn money, to be self-dependent, to utilize their skills and talents and to get better status in the society. Entrepreneurs are inspired by our guidance for starting their enterprises. We provide them basic education, training in marketing, business analysis and digitalization and how to seek financial assistance from banks and financial institutions. We believe that real power can come only through capacity building and independence.
